Naturex announces the acquisition of Burgundy Botanical Extracts, strengthening its offering in the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and personal care markets

 


Avignon, Monday 24 October. Naturex announces the acquisition of Burgundy Botanical Extracts, a French manufacturer and supplier of plant extracts for the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.
A European player in natural chemicals
With twelve years of expertise in botanical extracts, combined with a knowledge of medicinal plants and
phytochemistry / biochemistry, BURGUNDY is one of the European leaders in this market. BURGUNDY employs around 60 people at its two production sites based in France (Reyssouze - Department of Ain) and Spain (Palafolls) with significant capacity for extraction, purification and drying operations.BURGUNDY has three major markets and a service activity that had total revenue of 14 million euros over the last twelve months.

Flagship brands and products developed by BURGUNDY over the last 10 years include grape seed and cranberry extracts, UTIroseTM, a patented hibiscus extract for use in combating urinary infections and IridoforceTM, an extract of harpagophytum used in the prevention of arthrosis and joint diseases.

A strengthened manufacturing base and an expanded commercial offering

Burgundy has completed its recent investments dedicated to the production in large volumes of grape seeds extracts with guaranteed acces to raw materials through Cristal Union

The completion of our recent investments in terms of extra capacity of extraction, extra chromatography columns, drying, clean rooms, etc.... gives Burgundy an innovative facility, totally automated and computerized, for the highest traceability (from the fields to your product) and the best performances. In the respect of the strictest European or US norms for all steps from collect to packing (and of most-ly all countries), in addition to the ISO 22 000 standards and in GMPc plant.

Cristal Union Group (group of 1,5 Billion Euros, 1st European producer of Bioethanol, 2nd European sugar Companie) as 1st worldwide producer of Grape-seeds for extraction of polyphenols and actives, and its affiliate Burgundy Botanical Extracts, are pleased to announce they start their new production line dedicated to high speed process for polyphenols from grape seeds.

With an access of more than 7 000T of selected grape seeds for their content on OPC, Burgundy and Cristal Union have taken the decision to actively promote very competitive and high quality Grape Seeds Extracts. This choice fits the strategy of Burgundy to catch the leadership on the polyphenols marketplace. For this purpose, after acquiring two new facilities on 2009, Burgundy has invested in new processing lines for extraction and purification that gives to the French company a real advantage in term of productivity and costs effectiveness.
